When I was five
I could hardly sleep -
Awaiting the morning
Dreaming of what lay waiting.
When I was seven
I could hardly wait -
To await the next day
And see the splendor under the tree
When I was ten
The dream was still alive -
Eager anticipation
Of the magical treats, toys and celebration
When I was twelve
The enchantment was heaven -
I knew the secret
And kept it alive for those younger
When I was fifteen
The play there again -
The roles set, cast
I knew my part in the games of the day
Now I am nineteen
The charade has no hold
The day has no wonder nor splendor
The enchantment has disembarked my heart.
Tomorrow is just another Sunday.

Unfortunately I'm still a sucker for presents, and still wake up insanely early for my birthday and Christmas
